Safety Committee Meeting

Attending:  D. Dunn, T. Growden, B. Long

Discussed hooking the laptop computer in the back on the Command Unit so that it can remain on all of the time.

The hard wired smoke detector at Sta. 2 is repaired.

The Sta. 3 side door light is connected to the station neon sign and cannot be turned on because the neon sign is damaged.  We will check and see if the light can be separated from the sign.

Discussed medical physicals.  T. Growden will check on the price of the hazmat team’s physicals.           The committee recommends that the Department pursue:  

1)  NFPA 1500 physicals or

2)  Hazmat team entry/annual physicals

3)  Personal doctor physicals with forms describing job description and confirming individuals’ ability to perform duties.

Discussed possibly contacting the company that periodically comes to the area and does scans to detect individual’s possibility of having health problems.

Discussed the possibility of incorporating BP and heart monitoring into rehab training.
